October 26 - Weekend Update

Hudson and I are still hanging out at Hotel Children’s On Wednesday, he started with a runny nose and mild cough, so they ran a respiratory panel on him, and he was positive for parainfluenza 1. Unfortunately, this caused him to now be full isolation, so he can no longer leave his room at all.

October 22 - Midweek Update

Hudson had a good long weekend with his Daddy, and I SO enjoyed my weekend with the girls. Clare had a soccer tournament in Perryville this weekend, and we got some good cousin time in after her games on Saturday, and we had SVS Trunk or Treat on Sunday evening. Busy weekend! After work yesterday, I drove back up to STL to tag Matt out.

Hudson’s had a pretty good week. The “treatment” part of this round of chemo/stem cell transplant is done - we are still just in the waiting phase right now. His ANC is currently still falling - he has yet to hit 0.

Hudson’s stem cell transplant went great today! It was pretty fascinating, actually - they brought the frozen stem cells into the room and used a water bath to thaw them right there at the bedside. Then they drew them up into a big syringe and injected them straight into his line.

October 13 - Weekend Update

Weekend update! Hudson started his chemo Friday morning, with two chemo infusions on Friday and the same two medications again on Saturday. One of the chemo meds is called thiotepa and is actually secreted through the skin. So to keep Hudson from getting burns/skin irritation from the chemo sitting on his skin for too long, he had to have bed baths every six hours from Friday evening until this evening.

October 10 - Time at Home & Round Three

We had a great week at home! Clare finally felt better from her illness and was able to join us back at home on Saturday afternoon. We took a family trip to the pumpkin patch and enjoyed a Jim & Sylvia Reinagel family reunion, soccer games for both girls, and lots of time outside soaking in this beautiful weather. Hudson has had lots of great energy and has been feeling good.
