September 13 - Round 2 Begins

Hudson’s admission is going well so far. He got his first two chemo meds yesterday afternoon - vincristine and methotrexate. He ended up breaking out in hives, and the team has decided it seems to be related to the vincristine. Last round of chemo he also got very rashy right away, but he had been under anesthesia from his central line placement so it was difficult to place the cause. But he ended up with a rash/hives after his day 8 infusion of vincristine, too, and although he didn’t seem to react on the day 15 infusion last cycle, after yesterday they’ve decided to add it to his allergy list. He is supposed to have 2 more vincristine infusions this cycle - day 8 and day 15, so they plan to load him with Benadryl prior. Hopefully his reaction does not become more severe. 🙏🏼

We had a pretty restful, quiet night. Hudson woke up vomiting once, but after getting his PRN antiemetic he rested well without any more vomiting, even with the frequent diaper changes from all the extra hydration they’re giving him.

Today’s been busy already - he’s watched his favorite movie Frozen, ate an ok breakfast, had his PT and OT evaluations, played, walked/stomped the halls, and now he’s watching Blippi and just finished a whole pack of Pop Tarts! 😳

Plan for the day is hyper hydration, while we wait for his body to clear the methotrexate. Once he clears he’ll be able to start his next chemo medication.

Thank you for your prayers! Please continue to pray for Hudson’s comfort, no more side effects, good control over nausea/vomiting, good appetite.

Jesus, we trust in you! 💛
