November 4 - Time at Home
Whew! We’ve been busy over the last several days! Halloween festivities, Feast of All Saints, a soccer tournament, and a VERY belated birthday party for our girl Clare (postponed due to illness) have kept us moving! It’s been SO GOOD to be home as a family. It makes me so happy to see the kids all play together. Kate has really taken Hudson under her wing, and he is constantly asking for his Kate. Both girls are loving snuggles and playtime with Hudson. It’s really sweet to see how much they love him. 🥰
Hudson is doing well. He has lots of energy and is not happy about the wet weather today because this boy wants to be outside! His appetite has been good the past several days so we’re hoping he’s building back up in preparation for next round. He’s an amazingly tough little guy. 💪🏻
His sedated ABR hearing test on Friday was great. He has not had any changes or hearing loss compared to his baseline! Thank you, Jesus! 🙌🏻 They will continue to monitor this after each transplant round. In clinic on Friday, his ANC was only 672. Prior to discharge, he was over 1500 two days, but this was while getting a medication called neupogen, which helps to stimulate his bone marrow. Once he hit 1500 for two days, they stopped this medication, and his counts have fallen since then. Plus, he is still fighting the parainfluenza (swabbed positive again Friday), so he seems to be slow to recover on his own. In order to proceed with the next round, his ANC needs to be >750, and he was only 654 with his outpatient labs this morning. His team feels his body just isn’t quite ready to move forward this week, so his admission is being postponed to next Thursday, 11/14.
Obviously we only want to proceed if Hudson is ready, but there’s some difficulty with this news as it means that the chance we had of being home for Thanksgiving is gone. Regardless, we have so so SO much to be thankful for this year, and we’ll celebrate when we can. The good news is that, for now, we get more time together as a family.
So that’s the update for now! Thanks for all your prayers! Please continue to pray for our little fighter! 💪🏻🎗️
